Bonus Conversations: Gordon Huang

Get to know Gordon Huang. Gordon grew up in Taiwan and came to North America at 13. He did not grow up in a Christian family, yet he came to know Jesus after connecting with a Chinese church in Northern California. There, he placed his faith in Christ and grew more serious about it during college.

At the end of university, he felt called to become a full-time pastor. He began serving at a Chinese church in Orange County, California, then went to Fuller Theological Seminary. A few years later, he sensed a call to return to Taiwan.

He describes his return to Taiwan as a challenging opportunity as he continued to wrestle with a burden for his country and people. At the same time, he appreciated the American church’s impact on his faith and formation. After he received heartfelt encouragement while praying the Lord’s Prayer in Mandarin, he was convinced that God was calling him to be a pastor to his own people.

Gordon had the opportunity to meet Jay Kyle from Redeemer City to City while serving in Taipei in 2007. Jay profoundly impacted his life, turned his world upside down, and led him to dream the impossible.
